Shubham Sharma

Co-Founder, Dreamer, Investor

In 2018, Shubham was living in California in the famed Bay Area. While California is incredibly beautiful, Shubham became aware of how vulnerable it was to natural disasters and climate change and of how such environmental vulnerabilities creates economic instability and household insecurity at the most basic level. During that same period, India was experiencing one of the worst droughts in its history, again due to climate change. In his visits back home, he couldn't help but notice how dependent people were on public services and on water resources and how unprepared the economy is for the forecasted water shortages and climate disasters. The idea came to him that he wanted to help develop agricultural practices that promote self-reliance, reduces stress on underground water resources, benefits farmers and women in particular and is free of harmful chemicals and pathogens. As NRIs that want to give back to their community, he and his closest friends, Anuj Agarwal and Saurabh Agarwal began designing this project and set it into motion two years later.

Anuj Agarwal

Co-Founder, Head of India Operations

In 2018, Anuj was living in Wisconsin, USA and contemplating a move back to India. As a mechanical engineer who worked for a firm that creates heavy equipment for the farming industry, he was seeing new consumption patterns where the demand for healthy pesticide-free food was growing in developing countries and wasn’t being met due to inadequate supply. He began dreaming of a project which could prove the feasibility of sustainable farming for the masses and set an example for Indian farmers to learn new techniques in farming. Following an initial pilot phase of research and testing in the US in California and Wisconsin, he returned to India in 2019 and is currently heading the operations of Vishuddha Farms.
